It was a special pleasure for us to be able to participate in this event. Together we should support LGBT+tech communities much more.

So here are a few impressions from the Unicorns in Tech Event.

Speaking Unicorns in Tech has given us the opportunity to get feedback from people from a wide range of industries and fields. So we met many new friends and were able to see further perspectives. Furthermore, it was interesting to get feedback from people outside the industry. On the basis of this feedback we are optimizing our HR (Human Resources) to become even more accessible to the general public.

Special thanks to the teams of Unicorns in Tech and Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship (SCE).

The Unicorns in Tech network is an international LGBT+ tech community.
To be precise, a network founded by the UHLALA Group. Since 2014, they have grown into a large community of more than 3400 unicorns who are passionate about technology and its latest trends.

Since 2014, they have grown into a large community of more than 3400 unicorns who are passionate about technology and its latest trends.Companies and partners organize similar events throughout Germany every month. The primary seat of the network is located in Berlin.

The SCE, as the Entrepreneurship Center of the Munich University of Applied Sciences, promotes innovation and entrepreneurship through interactive educational offerings, start-up support and networking activities. The goal is to motivate and enable personalities to think and act entrepreneurially and thus contribute to a future worth living.

We had a lot of fun and could take a lot with us. We would like to thank all participants who attended the lectures at Unicorns in Tech and look forward to the future exchange.

Learning, knowledge and trends

Depending on the sector you’re working in, exhibitions can be a great place to polish up your industry skills and find out about the latest innovations and trends. These events often afford the opportunity to listen to insightful keynotes and absorb the wisdom of thought-leaders and innovators.
They also give a good indication of where things are headed and you can get a chance to learn as much as possible.

Physical interaction

Exhibitions are great interactive environments. They are full of live demonstrations and new products that give you the opportunity to examine, handle, compare, see, smell, experience and test-drive.
In this fully immersive environment, you can become one with your chosen field.

Creative engagement

Creative engagement at an art exhibition may be a given, but even at trade shows exhibitors often pull out all the stops in order to immerse visitors in a visceral experience.
Beautifully crafted pop up stands, innovative technology and impressive engineering all equate to a thought-provoking creative experience that will inspire you, or just leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.

Negotiations

Sales is generally at the forefront of the exhibitor’s mind and so, here’s your opportunity to buy, negotiate and sell.
That human touch, those charming bartering techniques and those upfront payments are irresistible to the average exhibitor… and visitors know this. There isn’t much obvious room for you to exercise your negotiation skills online so discounts at your favourite exhibition are a very real possibility.

Direct access to the big players

Research further suggests that one-third of visitors are looking for new suppliers. Opportunity is ripe! As is expert advice on specific commercial challenges.
Forget trawling through web sources, forums and social media profiles – casual approaches and face-to-face appointments with key suppliers are fair game and a perfect way to ask questions. It’s also a perfect chance to build bridges with the powerful players.

Competition

Hundreds of thousands of businesses market themselves at exhibitions every year. So, if you’re a visiting competitor, sizing up the other fish in your pond and scouting enemy positions is an integral part of the exhibition. If you’re simply interested in the market, you can neutrally observe and make informed comparisons.

Job hunting

If you’re keen for a new challenge or are just a bit fed up with your everyday work routine, you’ve probably been to a job fair. We’ve all seen the types that wear jeans and t-shirts to work, travel to the office on a scooter, play Games in their lunch break and have access to a ready supply of deliciously unhealthy snacks. Surely it’s only fair that you get a slice of that pizza? Exhibitions give you the chance to window-shop to your heart’s content, sampling what’s on offer in the world of business.

We are really very thankful for everyone we got to know during this time. Especially the people from the big companies who brought us close to the different industries. And you know who is meant here. In the meantime many of our friends have changed positions or even companies, so that from now on we will be remembered more via the common social media platforms and conventional telephoning. Of course we are always happy when one of you picks up the phone and calls through. Just let us hear from you again if we appear in your memory.
