gamescom is a trade fair / event for video games appears annually at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Since 2018 organized by game – Verband der deutschen Games-Branche; and before that, by the Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware.

Here a few impressions from our visit:

Waiting so long for Fallout 4 VR and then this. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet our expectations. Only customized controls with a custom mod make it a pleasure for us.

Background:

Fallout 4 is an action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fourth main game in the Fallout series and was released worldwide on November 10, 2015, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is set within an open world post-apocalyptic environment that encompasses the city of Boston and the surrounding Massachusetts region known as “The Commonwealth”. It makes use of a number of local landmarks, including Bunker Hill, Fort Independence (Massachusetts), and Old North Bridge near Concord, as the bridge out of Sanctuary Hills.

The main story takes place in the year 2287, ten years after the events of Fallout 3 and 210 years after “The Great War”, which caused catastrophic nuclear devastation across the United States.

This game met all our expectations and exceeded it! Excellent gameplay and unsurpassed graphics quality are the hallmarks of this game and the business of Crytek!

Background:

The game takes place in Hope County, a fictional region of Montana, United States. The main story revolves around the Project at Eden’s Gate, a doomsday cult that has taken over the county at the command of its charismatic and powerful leader, Joseph Seed. Players control an unnamed junior deputy sheriff who becomes trapped in Hope County, and must work alongside factions of a resistance to liberate the county from the despotic rule of the Seeds and Eden’s Gate. Gameplay focuses on combat and exploration; players battle enemy soldiers and dangerous wildlife using a wide array of weapons. The game features many elements found in role-playing games, such as a branching storyline and side quests. The game also features a map editor, a co-operative multiplayer mode, and a competitive multiplayer mode.

Visiting gamescom Cologne

All in all, the visit to gamescom Cologne was a successful venture. We had a lot of fun and could see old friends again. In addition got to know new friends. We are looking forward to the future exchange.

Project SilkSnakes Helicopter Game – SilkSnakes is one of our games. To be more precise, our free time retro game project based on the old Amiga title Silkworm. Apprentices as well as trainees and our employees have the opportunity to participate in this game. External cooperation partners are also always welcome to participate and contribute to the development.

In the beginning we programmed the game with the Unity Game Engine. In the meantime we switched to the Unreal Engine. For this reason it is definitely an advantage if you have C++ knowledge. Short story so far:

Groundbreaking innovations in research and development paved the way for mankind in 2323 to an unprecedented high culture. Artificial intelligence, autonomous robots, fully automated production facilities and a global, machine-regulated economy shaped the image of this new, extremely efficient world.

Soon all technological boundaries overcome and even distant planets or galaxies were within reach. Over time, the autonomous machines developed ever better. More and more efficient means of transport are emerging.

The breakthrough came in 2332. The calculation of the geodetic line through the space-time continuum is successful. First pioneers sent on a journey to unknown galaxies – with serious consequences. Since time no longer exists as a physical quantity, the once so efficient machines collapse under constant system errors, and so do humans, the pioneers, who are gradually losing their minds.

However, a few succeed the miracle, with the last of their strength they initiate the emergency program and start the vital return journey to earth. But there is nothing as it was. The pioneers find themselves in an unknown world. In a world of devastation, suffering and horror. They are at war, led by men, carried by machines. What they don’t suspect. Soon the machines develop their own consciousness and a new party is born. You can stop them. But only with united forces.
